When making my version of the poster, first of all I wanted to show the collaboration between the 4 programs that are participating in the « LEAP » festival. Initially I was inspired by the word LEAP to include a person/silhouette that is jumping into a new creative artsy sea-world, but after some versions I decided not to. Than I got the idea of including an arrow to show that the person is taking a leap of faith but even without the jumping figure, the arrow remained to represent that concept. It is there in a way to encourage students to leap into this creative festival and explore.
The four hands holding puzzle pieces represent the four ALC programs that are collaborating with each other to create one festival, one piece. There are drawings-icons to visually represent each program.
The letter E in LEAP stands for energized which, along with the official LEAP poster on the Dawson website, inspired me to include different colours. Energy, for me, means vibrant colours, especially yellow, but I opted for less brightness and more spring-lighter shades. In my previous versions the background was within the same colour scheme (pastels), but I liked the contrast in colours and went for it. I was inspired to put the sky as the background by a classmate’s work. I was choosing between light blue clouds fading into the cosmos, a dark-blue and purple Milky Way and the dark blue space. The dark space background ended up looking more coherent with the main images. As for "The LEAP ALC FESTIVAL" writing, it is on a white cloud in order to stand out from the dark background.

I went through 4 versions of this poster, which were all somewhat different, while keeping the theme, ideas and colour palette.
