For my Integrating Activity I decided to do a series of digital artworks ( between 4 and 8 pieces) realized through a combination of illustration, collage and photography. The art collection could be called “When the worlds combine”, “What’s my nature? or something of a similar type, depending on the end results.

 

This project will allow me to express my creativity and challenge myself in a somewhat new art form, while simultaneously exploring the theme of my personal “identity”. Initially, I wanted to integrate different aspects of my identity: music, dance, stutter, ethnicity (one per piece or all mixed up like references).  But there is a big probability that I will concentrate on looking at cultural, ethnic and racial sides of my identity. In this case, I will be combining and contrasting Ukrainian (Slavic), Congolese (African) and Black cultures and depicting how they influenced and developed in me or how they intertwined and interacted in my life. 

 

The idea behind this art form came from my personal interest in photo editing and photography, my new appreciation of digital illustration and the collage style that already resurfaced in some of my Dawson art projects ( for example: a Religion and Popular culture work). The Integrating Activity’s poster project pushed me towards discovering an interest and to some ability to create art digitally on Procreate. 

 

For the material I will be using : Mobile apps (such as Procreate, Photoshop, Picsart, etc.), the Canva website ( and mobile version), as well as an Ipad, an apple pen, a phone camera and pictures (personal and from the internet).
